Scores of medical students of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on Friday held a protest demonstration against civilian killings which have taken place for past one week in Kashmir.
The apron-donning students, holding placards, reading “Bleeding Kashmir”, “End pellet horror” were joined by doctors and paramedics in the GMC premises, amid anti-government slogans. The students adopted a resolution by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the ongoing “repression” in Kashmir.
“This protest is in support of ongoing movement in Kashmir. We protests against the civilian killings and demand and immediate end to them,” said a group of female students.
The protesting students and doctors expressed solidarity with students across Kashmir who were injured in clashes with forces on Thursday. “We condemn use of pellets and demand an immediate ban on their use,” said one of the doctors.
The doctors said qualified youths “were being forced to pick up arms since every other form of non-violent resistance is dealt with force.”
